Vice President, Head of Business Systems

Responsibility & Authority

Head of Business Systems is responsible for:

  • Driving the implementation, enhancement and decommissioning of the information technology assets that support the ocean business to:
  • Increase business productivity
  • Differentiate product and services
  • Improve decision making
  • Enhance revenue
  • Developing business’ IT strategy and roadmap in collaboration with the IT Applications and Operations teams
  • Collecting, consolidating and communicating business and service level requirements to IT
  • Directing and supporting both internal resources and vendors in the delivery of systems and support
  • Controlling and monitoring the IT budget allocated to global business systems
  • Supporting business leaders to ensure that their processes align with optimum use of business systems
  • Managing, developing and motivating resources within the business systems team

Head of Business Systems has the Authority:

  • To prioritize development and enhancements for the portfolio of global systems
  • To accept or reject the functionality delivered by the application support and development team
  • Set and accept the service levels defined by the IT Operations team

  • Ability to quickly learn and understand new requirements, techniques, tools and solutions
  • Strong supplier management skills including experience and understanding of outsourced environments
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL processes
  • Deep technical understanding of : Databases, Data Definition Languages and Data Structures, Messaging and Integration Technologies, Programming Languages, Internet Technologies,
  • Application Servers, Infrastructure and Infrastructure Services

The perfect candidate for this role:

  • Has extensive experience from a similar position, preferably from a global Company
  • Has extensive experience in high-level negotiating
  • Holds a Masters degree or equivalent, preferably within Management and IT
  • Is independent, but also an excellent team player
  • Is hands on and ALWAYS prepared
  • The role reports directly to Chief Operating Officer
