General Manager – Malta

Q-Free is a leading global supplier of ITS - Intelligent Transportation Systems.
Would you like to work for an international and progressive company at the heart of the ongoing transportation revolution? The Parking industry is undergoing major digital transformation and Q-Free ASA intends to take a global leadership role in this market during the next years.

We are looking for a General Manager to lead this transformation and to head our software development center in Malta. We are in the process of transitioning into the Microsoft Azure platform and our parking management solution will communicate with NB-IoT sensors within the next 12 months. We aim to make our solution even more intelligent by utilizing standard tools for analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Our Malta team consists of 18 highly motivated individuals working within the fields of Development, QA and Operations. In addition, the General Manager will have access to a local HR/Office admin resource as well as an Accountant service.

Malta is known for its warm climate, numerous recreation areas as well as architectural and historical monuments that are some of the oldest in the world. English language is one of the official languages of Malta and Malta's beneficial tax schemes has resulted in an international business environment and many foreigners taking up residence Our newly renovated and modern office is located in Msida. Msida is a harbor town in the centre of Malta and is in walking distance from the University of Malta as well as public transportation, coffee shops and other day to day amenities.Q-free will assist with housing and expat issues.


Main responsibilities

  • Manage a team of skilled developers, QA and Operations resources.
  • Contribute in development of future roadmap and covert company objectives into data- and technology architecture maps.
  • Continue transition into Public Cloud and SaaS.
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise all activities related to design/architecture, development, QA and release.
  • Ensure agile development and improve time to market
  • Monitor relevant trends and emerging technologies.
  • Budget responsibility


Your background/experience

  • Higher education (Bachelor/Master) within Information Technology.
  • Senior developer with 5 years of experience within system development
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as Tech lead/Architect, Development Manager or similar.
  • Background and knowledge of the Microsoft Azure platform and capabilities.
  • Experience with data analysis techniques and data modelling.
  • Experience with agile development techniques such as Scrum.
  • Relevant certifications are an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
