Legal Assistant

 

Höegh LNG is strengthening its Legal & Compliance team and is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant.

Höegh LNG has a leading position in the global floating LNG industry and we are always looking for talented people to take us further. ​ 

Our new Legal Assistant will play an important role as part of the legal and compliance team ensuring the group maintains the highest standards of corporate governance and complies with applicable rules and regulations. You will be working closely with the business units on the group’s projects and transactions.

 

Professional Responsibilities and Authority

We consider this role to be particulary interesting as you will be closely involved in a wide range of international energy projects and shipping transactions.

You will have the responsibility to ensure that all administrative and paralegal work required by the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer and the in-house legal team is followed up timely.


Main responsibilities are:

  • Provide corporate secretariat support to the company and its subsidiaries in close collaboration with in-house resources and local corporate secretaries (e.g. schedule board meetings and draft agendas and minutes/resolutions)
  • Engage and manage local corporate secretaries
  • Incorporate and liquidate companies in various jurisdictions
  • Provide paralegal, corporate and administrative support relating to transactions, projects, corporate and project structures and company resolutions and documentation, including in connection with financing, vessel deliveries, establishing of operations in new jurisdictions and M&A transactions
  • Maintain statutory records and carrying out company filings in various jurisdictions


The perfect candidate for this role

We believe the ideal candidate for this role holds a similar position at an in-house legal department and has a successful track record as a Legal Assistant, preferably from a larger energy/shipping, industrial, technology and/or service based company operating in an international environment. Candidates from a bigger law firm are of course also welcome to apply.

What do you need to know for this position?

With regards to education, we expect a 3 years relevant higher education as a minimum, but most of all will your relevant work experience be considered.

Proficiency in the Norwegian language would be helpful, but other candidates with fluent English skills could be considered.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience from an in-house legal department or law firm, preferably within the energy/shipping industry or a law firm
  • Excellent proficiency in English, written and spoken
  • Good interpersonal skills, balance firmness and flexibility
  • Be pro-active, solution oriented and open-minded
  • Excellent IT skills in particular the MS Office suite
  • Knowledgeable and competent with a clear and reflective approach to problem solving.
